DC/MD/VA tech session 12/6/03
i just got the OK to post about the valve adjust "tech" session we planned. it will be 10am saturday Dec 6th at the home of norustscott in sykesville, MD. all are welcome. the main emphasis will be a demo valve adjust; dezel12345, JohnB and jmuriz were interested in seeing/performing a valve adjust on their cars. there are alot of knowlegable resources in our area who hopefully will attend, so if there are any other discussion topics, such as tune up, brake adjust....
more details to follow, give a couple of days for the mapquest to be done. a cookout is planned so maybe bring some favorite food to share. this is a cooperative effort and norustscott has been kind enough to volunteer the location (...heated garage, grill.....) now, where is that weather site.....:D do some sort of reply if you will be attending or tentative attending think about caravanning up (down...) |
I will try to make the dive up :) I will no better the closer we get to the 6th.
Please put me on the list to receive the mapquest or address for the location. Cheers Kerry:D |
I should be able to make it. I will bring my '75, a notepad, and potato salad . Or something. Good idea, Thanks Pete
|
I'll be there, let me know what I should bring!
~Eric |
Sounds good to me Jim......As seeing how close I live to Krispy Kreme you can only guess at what I am bringing lots of ....If the weather permits I am planning on being there. Being new to the East Coast where is Skyesville ? I am in Alexandria. Oh well . time to head out into the rain ....what happened to that Indian Summer
|
Scotts place is a bit of a drive from the Northern VA area, but a good part of it is on some nice fun roads :-)
I think a caravan from the Northern VA area is in order |
Jim,
You know I'm in, PM the directions if that's how you're handling them. |
This is going to be fun ... I promise.
I am really gearing up for this ... However, this week and next are really crazy. I have a tradeshow I am preparing for and will be in Denver all next week @ the OSPexpo. After that it should be smooth sailing till the first of the year.
I will put together directions on the "fun roads" up from Shady Grove road in Gaithersburg as well as the less exciting route 495 to 95N to route 32 straight to Sykesville. For an advanced look search "Map Quest" 7455 Brandenburg (cool huh?) Circle zip code 21784. Here is a picture of the garage ...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1068090129.jpg As you can see If I move the beetle out of the way we should have plenty of room for two cars ... wait I think that might be the wrong picture... yep my lift looks nothing like that one...here ya go... you can see how it might be confusing? ;) Seriously, we will have a great time and I hope you can make it. One of my 911 buds said he might swap the plates off his 63 vette onto his race car and cruise over ... this car will be fun to check out. I will work on some other surprises as well... Cheers, Scott |
ha ...

Sounds good. I'll be there since I only live about 25 minutes away from you.
Ralph Gosnell White 74 in fair to good shape |
Garage.....? what are those :D
Cheers Kerry |
Head up for you LOCALS,
in todays paper a guy is advertising lots of CHEAP 914 parts in the $100 or less section ....bumpers/hoods/trunk/glass/suspension/glass/lenses/axles........ The number is 301 656 8425 AD is just cam out today . Enjoy |
Hey, does Klaus answer the phone?
|
is that Klaus Nickel aka "Computer Fritz"? if it is, he supposedly has a 914/VW boneyard in the Columbia MDarea.
|
He runs an ad every so often ... I have been to the yard ... it is amazing. There are some (vw) treasures buried there. He has no idea of what is there. Now is a great time to dig there. no wasps poison ivy etc.
Can anyone confirm it is him? I understood a year ago that the county came down hard on him to stop running a salvage business from his home, actually Dad's home. Very interesting guy. German naval wwII vet and is still very lucid...Sat through a couple of good war stories waiting for Kluas one day... |
Nope that is not him...I didn't know you guys new about him. I bought some parts off him 2 years ago. He must have 15 914's 5 911/912's rusting away.
The guys selling the parts has them at his moms garage in MD. I haven't seen the add but from talking to him he has deck lids, bumpers..NO interior and a 1.7 engine in pieces. He was into 914's long ago and now drives a 911, took awhile for him to admit it...Don't blame him :) I told him I was going to be up in the area next weekend and he sounded like he would love to see some 914's again and wanted to stop by. He said I could have everything for $200. I wish I knew what was there????? CHeers Kerry |
Count me in! I am a little new to this stuff so it would be nice to talk to a few guys in the area.
Geoff C. Need directions though. Non-fun roads if you don't mind. The teener has no wheels, seats, or engine. I could try and push. |
go to:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/ & put in scotts address he listed in the reply with the pix of his car on the lift (in front of the yellow/red BOSCH banner) i/we will try to respond to all requests for directions so no one gets left out. let me/us know if you are without directions. ps: silverside: i have 2 seats and could put old michelin xzx's on vw rims but can't get an engine together in time. |
