No brakes
Replaced frontcalipers with rebuilt, replaced steel front brake lines, Replaced cloged right front rubber brake line. Had rear calipers rebuilt. Put speed bleeders all around. Blead the brakes 3 times and still the pedal goes to the floor. What gives. If there was a air leek were the res lines go into the MC would this cause said problem.

Any place that air can get in the system is BAD.
Check all your connections, no crossthreads.. I hope.. did you bleed from the top of the calipers? Air floats. M

Air rises. Bleeding from the bottom of the caliper will never get the air out...

I am having troble with my brakes also. I found a '73 914 in a boneyard and was wondering if the front calipers are the same as the '72 914.

Probably not. In either very late 72 or very early 73 the calipers changed and the mounting points moved slightly. You can probably make the later calipers work, but it's a better idea to stick with the right ones.
It might be worth picking one up and doing a rebuild on it, as practice for rebuilding your own. --DD

Dave, I found that the 73 is different from the 72, about 1 inch wider. When I put the 73's on, It was rubbing against the rims and the wheels wouldn't move. Upon further work, I was able to get the originals to work. Out of curiosity, How much are rebuilt cal's selling for? I heard they cost as much as $250/each.

I think you actually ran into the difference in mounting points. The 72s are odd, as the changes to the struts and calipers and rotors happened in a couple of different stages during the course of that model year. I have the details at home (have to go look them up in the parts books) but not with me right now.
Our on-line catalog shows the rebuilts as NLA. You might call and see if they are available again now and ask what the price on them is. --DD
