I think those go on the top of the front shocks pre-installation. They are rubber stops for if the shocks top out.

Yup. Snubbers, bump-stops, and I think they're also called other things as well.
Some shocks (e.g., Konis) will be significantly damaged by bottoming out. So you really need those... --DD

Hey, Thanks guys for your imput. I am still not convinced what the heck those rubber thingys are for. Top shock snubber fittings seem logical but, are they the correct parts or not?
I think I got these with a bunch of turbo tie rod parts, a while back. I was thinking that maybe these things fit on the tie rods as a mount for a boot that would extend up to the steering rack, but I now doubt that. Still wondering, sort of a constant state for me, wonderiing. Phil |

They look a fair bit like VW Rabbit snubbers.
