Question idle to high?

ive looked through my 914/4 book for instructions on how to adjust the idle on my F.I 2.0 litre, but i can't find any.
it idles abought 1200 all the time. i think it should idle around 800/900???

There is an idle adjustment screw on the side of the throttle body. it sticks out a ways, so is reasonably obvious if you know where to look. It points toward the left-rear of the car, though, so it is mostly hidden under the air cleaner. Loosen the hose clamp on the air cleaner and then undo the two clips at the bottom of the cleaner that hold it onto its bracket. You can pull the cleaner up and out, and see the screw easily. Then put the air cleaner back on and reach the screw from the right side of the car. (At least, that's how I do it.)

Air leaks will make the car idle too high. Overly-advanced timing will as well. Check for those.
