Ebay crooks

This guy wants to charge $13.99 to ship a small CD if you buy his mini CD for $1.00. I have shipped 2 CD's in a mailer and it costs about $2.35 to ship anywhere in the states. I hate when people gouge for shipping. If he would have stated the CD for $13.99 and the Shipping for $1.00, I might have done it.

He must have got the idea from those commercials for the 'free' how-to-use-Windows CDROMs. But they charge 'only' $6 or so for shipping.

If they charge $12.00 for "handling" I would have the CD cleaned prior to use. Sounds like a J_____f job to me and the stains might cause a "read error".

Oh, and I wonder what Porshce Of North America would have to say about distribution of it's copywrited material. Guess which lawyer is coming to dinner!

Scott, you are the best. Your like an ebay jackass magnet. However, the dudes name is "schwinndler". Thats truth in advertizing!

Well, some of them are honest about it, even though Ebay would not approve. Here is an email converstation between myself and an Ebay seller.
Original email:
Your shipping seems a little high for being local. Would you consider lowering the shipping costs? I live in Orange county.

Let me know,
Scott

It's shipping and handling charge, including of ebay listing fee($2.75),ebay commission($.35+5%bid price),Paypal fee($.35+2.2%),insurance($3).

Angela
My relpy:
Well, thank you for the reply. I will just buy it from another source.

Regards,
Scott
And that is how I handle that. I am debating turning them into Ebay.

Jacked-up s/h costs are a common scam on ebay these days. I've often found that on commercially-available items, I can often beat the average ebay total price for an item from an online store. Caveat emptor!

Case in point:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2767988964&category=3759

Total cost with shipping, $165.51. I just bought one of these new from buy.com for $164, and I just missed a sale at Circuit City for $119. Why take on the risk with a buyer on ebay when you can get it from a reputable store?

If I'm not doing 50 cents on the dollar on Ebay, it's not a deal. I see stuff "not selling" on Ebay, because it's priced $10 above what I can pay at Pelican for the same item.

My ebay purchases are dwindling...

Mine are tapering off as well, It used to be a great place to go for hard to find stuff or even common stuff much cheaper, but now it is becoming so commercialized that it just isnt worth it. Besides, if you go to the store and buy something, you have it right now. I bought a DVD-RW on the 27th of November from a company in Pomona and still have not got it. I sent them an email asking for a refund since I already ordered another one from Texas and it came today. Go figure, it was less money since I did not have to pay tax.

I still lurk around ebay once and awhile, but I haven't bought anything in over a year. Most of the time it's a rip-off.
