a/c unit has arrived!!!

my "modern a/c unit (kit) has arrived today from European Cooler Air and looks as impressive as I hoped! It was well packaged and installation manual seems user friendly and easy to read. the interior underdash (blower unit) extends the entire width of car (door to door) with 5 separate cooling vents instead of the 3 or 4 which the rerto unit had. twin condensors and the sanden compressor unit brings my 73 2.0 914 into the 21st century! I have decided to let a local shop do the installation (hey I have a 3 year old son so "play" time is a minimun!) so Black Forrest Racing in Delray Beach said they will do the job for what the seller of kit gets for an installation price ($650) at his shop in Texas. I will keep all interested parties up do date on the progress (they said a week to do the job) and will have a "road test" when it is done in 10 days or so.

Congrats! I don't really need air conditioning where I live but you people in the south certainly must. Glad these things are available for the 914. Please post some pics of it.

What type compressor is used in the kit? How does it mount?

If at all possible, please take some photos of the kit pieces and the installation. I hope Black Forest does a good job. The dealer installed units I have seen were always hack jobs.

spoke to installation people today ...they are too busy this week but expect it to go in thur next week ...same installation as retro unit; cut away sheet metal...install compressor and lines . Bottom line is think of "old " unit with modern parts .16k btu vs 8k and 1.5 h.p. to power unit vs 14.5 h.p. (for the old york compressor.) I am not a "shil" for this company...only a consumer who decided it is too hot to play all summer long w/no a/c !
