thread locker during rebuild
In Jake Raby's Type IV rebuild video there's no mention of threadlockers only sealants. What bolts are good to apply threadlocker to during a rebuild?

Damn friggen' cam gear bolts.
Threadlock those...prolly flywheel bolts too. After you threadlock the cam gear bolts, then threadlock them. Dont forget the threadlocker on the cam gear bolts.

No thread locker on internals. Yes to flywheel, PP, oil pump nuts, etc.

So many people mis use thread lockers that I did not mention them to keep things simple.
The only thing I thread lock is the cam gear bolts. A properly torqued bolt will not back out in a stockish engine. Heck on my 3.0 I didn't use a drop of threadlock.

Torque internals to 60-70%, then upward in increments of 5-10% until proper specs. Make sure threads are very clean, and lubricated. After final torquing, if your @n@l about torque specs, wait a day or two, and check them again before final assembly. Threadlock on cam gear bolts is not a bad idea, but the factory didn't use it on anything else. And since they designed and R&D'ed it....Didn't someone already invent the wheel
