Vacation SUCKED! Barely made it home

Well, I got home last night from the vacation from Hell. It started off nice but quickly turned into my worst nightmare. Went to Mazatlan to enjoy a little warm quiet time away. Got there on Christmas day night. Walked around town to check things out. Got up the next day it was sunny and warm, just like I had hoped for. Did a few tours on Saturday and Sunday and had a great time. Sunday night, started feeling a little ill. Ill turned to extremely high fever, and major stomach pains. Come Tuesday after not leaving the bed, except for the frequent toilet visits, I feel like I am dying. Next thing you know, I am in the hospital where I spent the rest of my vacation and $3500.00. I dont think I will be going back to Mexico for awhile. I did however, see a 914 down there. It was red with a cracked Saratoga top with British Columbia plates on it. Every other car was a VW derivitive it seemed. It's good to be home though and once I fully recover, I will get back to my projects and try to get them ready for summer. Hope you all had a great holiday.

I never drank any water while down there. I dont even drink water here. It was a combination of things. I had a triple infection and one was Sowmanilla, and some ameoba thingy and something else. The 914 I saw had Canadian plates, which is what I thought was the strangest thing. I never saw the yellow one but recognize the area where those pictures were taken. Right around the corner from the damn hospital

If you had anything like lettuce washed in the water there - that can be just like drinking it.

Of course I'm not saying that caused the problem.

Glad you're back though - and healthy.

Geez, I was in Mexico a week, and sick the whole time. Of course, I brought the cold with me.

The over the counter decongestants were very very good down there.

Sorry to hear about your trip and your problems. Both Margarita and myself were very careful with the water and any raw vegetables while we were down there. Ameobic Dysentary is nasty. Salmanella is usually caused from raw chicken exposure.

well just a hint here as a hiker i drink water from all sorces, but i treat or filter the water first. go to your local hiking store ( rei bas pro etc ) and buy the micro pur tablets, they treat one liter each tablet, at about 50 cents each. and they dont add any taste. they kill all bateria and viruses in 30 min or less and they contain the same chemicals that are used in water treatment here in the US.

dont buy a filter they dont stop all bateria and viruses, there are other types of treatments but they are much more complicated or taste bad.
like aqua mira, which is very good to but you have to mix, wait 5 min, add to water, wait 30 mins and does not have a taste either

Scott, man I'm sorry. You could have used that $3500 on your projects, I'm sure. maybe your health coverage will kick down.

I don't do Mexico, period. I can get sick enough around here, thank you very much. Anyone who doesn't have a hepatitus shot is gambling with their liver.

Scott, did you drive the 914 down?

Only John Glenn said that. The rest kept their wicks wet.

No, I flew down, that was too far to go in my car. I dont even think I would try to drive mine to the beach right now. I need to get underneath it and do some more work on it to fix the front oil seal and get it dialed in yet. I have not touched the car since the Long Beach donut run. The way I am feeling right now, I dont even know if I will get it done for James' wedding run. I may have to drive the beemer.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, I am finally starting to feel better. So much so that this weekend I will be crawling under the car to fix the front oil pump seal and get rid of the oil leak. Time to get the car ready to drive. Spring is approaching.
