Use the search bar. This topic has been beat to death already. There's
also a tech article on this in the 'tech articles' section. |

Welcome!
Start here for the general stuff... http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/914tech_articles.htm You want specificly http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_five_lug_conversion/914_five_lug_conversion.htm Why not switch to 911 fronts? Its a cheap and easy bolt on.. you only have to do the stuts really. The rear is where the $$$$ are lost... -Rich Hilgersom |

Usually folks have the five lug Fuchs windmill, or at least something in mind before converting. If you're only trying to get away from the styled steel wheel, the four lug Fuchs are a great looking wheel for the 914.

I just did the five lug conversion. I got front and rear '73 911T (then went with the big brake upgrade). The 911 is the most desirable way to go, and as mentioned, a simple bolt on in the front (many people just keep stock rear and just drill the hubs). The cost depends on the hardware. Older 911 is pretty easy to find and cheap (at least one set up on ebay right now). Newer SC front end gets way better performance but also costs a lot more. The nice thing about the 911 set up is that it maintains the integrity of the car, it's strong and reliable. I debated numerous options, did a lot of research on this BBS, and decided that the 911 was the only way to go. I would have gone with the SC but needed to keep the $$ down. I did do the 911 rear brakes and e brake for a little extra rear braking. All in all, pretty easy and not terribly costly. I got my local machine shop to drill and stud my rear hubs for $50! I went with a set of 7X15 cookie cutter wheels (cheaper than fuchs, and I like the look better). They fit well after doing a bit of fender rolling
