Wheels, wheels, and more wheels.

I f you are at all like me, you have found it quite easy to take possesion of auto wheels. They may be spares for racing, a set for winter, or just those cool mags you bought at the local junkyard, that you didn't need. I am curious, if it is worth anybody's effort, to know just how many wheels you are "packin "? Let's limit it to wheels actually on the property where you live. Just auto and truck wheels-no riding mowers etc. They can be on a car or off- no tire needed. This could get ugly. Thanks, Pete

It's either 13 or 14 wheels. I forget if the spare set of four-lug Fuchs has one or two extra wheels...

[edit]Whoops! Make that 15 or 16!! I forgot that I have one spare in each car. A steelie in the 914, and a "donut" in the "other" car.[/edit]

Lessee - Bought new wheels/tires for Ram 4x4 for summer, vowed to keep cruddy factory alum's with cruddier tires for winter. Put cruddies in shed, "yeah, I'll get out there sometime an' switch 'em........" Now there's so much snow I can't even SEE the shed. I'd be digging to China if I tried to get them out now. Funny though, my new Dunlops work great in the snow, so oh well.
The cruddies are on top of a set of GM 6 lug steels that I "knew I'd use, 'cause I'll never own anything but a Chevy truck.........."
"I'll put that collapseable spare from the TransAm in the shed for now while I'm working on it, to get it out of the way." That was 17 years ago. It's still there. Car's not.
"Hey bro, you can have that full size Chevy spare from my totalled truck. I'll put it in the shed, remind me and I'll pull it out for you next time you're over..." Still there. He'll prolly sell the truck before I get it out for him.
I'm not counting all the bent atv wheels and dirtbike rims that I can't bring myself to bury. Many fond memories are churned up when I see then, and am reminded of how they got bent or broken in the first place.
I bet I couldn't even bribe the garbageman to take any of this crap.

funny thread, reminds me of Egan's article about the "cylinder count" (which includes lawnmowers, tractors, weed-wackers, airplanes, gas powered engines in pumps, etc.)

Anyway, off the top of my head without going to the basement:

4 15x7 Fuchs
2 15x8 Fuchs
4 15x7 Fuchs replicas
4 Saab 900 rims
20 or so Formula Vee rims
4 steel 911 wheels
9 914 steel wheels
5 Lotus
5 Mitsusbishi
9 for my Volvo P1800
2 sets for a Honda
3 vintage Campagnolo for a BMW
two on a trailer plus spare
some 911 space savers

I tend to avoid clutter (yeah, sure), but one thing I don't have too many of is wheels. I have an extra set of 5 cookies for the 914 and one spare in each car. The real problem----seven cars.

BTW, the Fuchs are about 1-2 lbs lighter than the Mahles. They would be better autoX wheels.

So by the time I got out of the back yard I was at 9, none in the house. On to the garage, 2 buggys. Dose the Harley count? Before I get to the drive way I'm at 35. Trailer, RV, 3 914's, oh and i forgot the bug. 60. And the boat is not here. It must be an obsession!
