Question a computer question for y'all

OK, I had a buncha pictures in my email that I dragged and dropped into a folder on my C drive, and they were all saved as jpg's, however they all have the "Explorer" icon, and when I try to open them, a new instance of Explorer opens up. I tried opening them in another application (photo editor), but it doesn't work either. While I'm able to rename them, I'm unable to do anything about this "Internet link".
I ran into this a while back, and I fixed it, but I don't remember what I did.
YES I'M A DOOFUS

I would be eternally grateful

You have to change the "association" so that the operating system opens your photo editor instead of explorer when clicking on a JPG file.

for 98

(HOLD left shift key)
Right click on the file. Open With (select application)
select the (always use this program to open this file type)

You may have a virus or some adware/spyware. Or you were a bit heavy on the shift key

Open your Photo imaging/editing software, and got to Open, then browse for the picture and open it in the photo software. Then Save As the photo as the same name. Confirm Yes on replacing the existing name, and it will save it as the photo as a jpg in the photo software program.

GD' Luck.

Okey dokey, thanks to you all for pointing me in the right direction - I figured it out. When I was saving them from my email into another folder, I just dragged and dropped 'em in, thinking it would be fast and easy, but NOOOOOOO, I was just saving the address, not the file.
However, turns out I needed to change the associations on a couple other things that I was having trouble with and didn't know why.
Yet another reason why this board is so Jim-Dandy.
Kudos again, Y'all
Jeff

Whoa! Toast! You appeared out of nowhere, like a ninja, right at the same time as my post.
Every time I tried what you just said, it opened another internet instance - drove me darn-near nutty.
I got it now, I'll never be lazy again.......
