Now you have spark make sure it is timed right using the static method, and make sure the dwell is close with a feeler gauge. Then look at the D-Jet article (it is a VERY comrehensive article) on how to rebuild, tune, and modify the FI system. With a car in storage THAT long I'm guessing there is some varnish or rust blocking the injectors, also when you change the fuel hoses put in a new filter. BTW you did put fresh gas in, didn't you? When you turn the key do you hear the pump run for a few seconds?

Gas tank and fuel lines fixed....no sound from the fuel pump, so next step is to check for power there. Have the article you mentioned out in the garage, ready to go! *S* Any further tips would be appreciated!

Thanks guys.

Tim's 914 web site (maybe it's called the 914 fans web site now???) has a article on the fuel pump circut.

Basics: There are two fuses on the relay panel in the engine compartment one is for the pump. One of the round relays is for the FI brain one for the pump and the other for the heater fan, if one of the first two is bad the pump won't work, see if the headlights go up and down and use those relays as they must be good. Use a test light on the pump to see if it is getting juice, I had mice (I'm sure the rest of you are sick of hearing about it, but I digress) chew through the ground and +12V causing intermittant problems. Sometimes pumps get jamed with varnish, if it gets power but won't run try removing it and spray PB blaster into the intake (WD-40 is crap IMHO) then after a few minutes wrap a towel around the ports (the gas sprays out in you eyes othwise, BTDT) and hook the pump directly up to the battery in short intervals so as to not overheat the pump. This gives the pump the max amount of power to break free, but do it away from the gas because that much power WILL spark. Also don't do it with a weak battery, weak batteries produce hydrogen (Hindinburg???) gas. If this dosen't work repeat a few times, but most likely the pump is shot.
