How do I wire my tach?

I just bought a 914 tach and would like to test if it's working.
Since I don't have a 914 I will be testing it on another 4 cyl. car. So I cannot just go by the color coded wires in the Porsche dashboard.

On the back there are three terminals.
My question is the "1" terminal. Does it go to the coil + or to the coil - ?

Thanks
