How Terminal is it?

Here are pics of the 1970 I just bought. Any feedback is apprieciated.

If that dark spot on the first pic is the garage floor, it's pretty serious. Take a screwdriver and poke at the metal near and around that hole. See how the crack is propagating away from it and tearing the metal away from the upright section?

If you don't know how to weld and you've always wanted to learn, here's your opportunity.

1 big piece of advice: drop the engine and examine the whole engine bay area for rust. Patch everything. It sounds like a lot of work, but you'll be glad you did it later on.

The jack point to the right of the engine mount bar in the 2nd pic looks good from here. Mine was practically dangling from the console/longitudinal when I started rust reapair. I ended up fixing it without a clamshell or outer long, just the jack point and a patch or two.

The point is, your car looks better at this stage than mine did.
