I have a 1972 914-4 and I am getting no fuel to the carbs. the car has set for 1 1/2 years. I bought it 2 weeks ago. I have got it to turn over, and with some starting fluid, I can get the motor to "fire", but not start. Any hints? Paul

Is the fuel pump running?
Is the tank full of dirt and crud? --DD

You can hear the pump running, but is anything actually coming out of it? Put one end of the hose in a bucket and turn the key.
If you don't get fuel that way, there's a blockage in the tank or a blocked hose. If you do get fuel this way, I'd venture you have stuck needle valves. Probably gunked up and full of varnish. If so, get a carb rebuild kit. They're not expensive, and include new needle valves. |
