Question No fuel to carbs.

I have a 1972 914-4 and I am getting no fuel to the carbs. the car has set for 1 1/2 years. I bought it 2 weeks ago. I have got it to turn over, and with some starting fluid, I can get the motor to "fire", but not start. Any hints? Paul

Is the fuel pump running?

Is the tank full of dirt and crud?

You can hear the pump running, but is anything actually coming out of it? Put one end of the hose in a bucket and turn the key.

If you don't get fuel that way, there's a blockage in the tank or a blocked hose.

If you do get fuel this way, I'd venture you have stuck needle valves. Probably gunked up and full of varnish. If so, get a carb rebuild kit. They're not expensive, and include new needle valves.
