				1974 1.8 Liter 914-4 Decel & EGR

Thank-you for the helpful information in the past. Now I need to know the location of the Decel valve, EGR valve and Charcoal Canister on my 1974 914-4. The dude that installed the aftermarket AC to these parts out Can anyone tell me where they are placed? Once I get them installed (if I need them) I can get the car going???

There is no EGR on a 74 914. There were two different locations for the charcoal cannister used in 1974. Early 74 cars had the cannister up on top of the gas tank, like the earlier cars. mid-74 and later cars had the cannister in the engine bay, usually on the battery tray or on the rear compartment of the engine bay. The early-style setup will have two hoses through the driver's side rocker panel, while the later-style one will have a single very small hose running through the center tunnel. The decel valve should be over on the right side of the engine bay, bolted to a support that is welded onto the suspension console. The Haynes manual has a few photos. --DD
