Special equipment required to check 914's chassis dimensions?
My car is going to the body shop soon to have the "hell hole" area and rear trunk floor rust repaired and after it's done I'd like to know that all of the chassis dimensions are within specs. Can the "average" modern body shop do this on a 914 or is special equipment required?

Both, sort of. You can take measurements of arbitrary points and get a pretty good idea if it's straight or not (see the "body dimensions" page elsewhere here on Pelican, and the similar pages on the 914club site). But if your shop has access to the Celette factory jigs, you'll get a much more positive indication of exactly how far off (if at all) everything is.

I have a feeling that my body shop won't have the Celette 914 fixture (Lol!). I did find some info on Celette Fixture Benches and the 2003 Celette Fixture Manual which lists one for the 914.

Ok, that's very interesting. I'll ask them - thanks.

I'm just wondering if anyone happens to know how much this type of work would cost? I've looked on the Restoration Design web page and the parts don't seem very expensive. I bet the labor is staggering though. Anyone have a ballpark price?
