I need to have chassis checked for sag...

Hi. I have a 72 chassis that I bought last year. In general the body is good. I did have some rust in the battery tray area, and part of the fire wall on the passenger side. The gap between the door and the body on the passenger side is smaller on the top than on the bottom. I took the rocker panels off and found no rust. The jack points have shiny new original paint. I anchored the car to the floor, and jacked it up at the jack point because I saw that the door was slightly 'kicked out' at the bottom. By doing this the door went back into position at the bottom, but I still don't have the proper gap at the top part of the door. What gives?

Could there be rust behind the jack point that I can't see now?. I may try to anchor the car again to see if I can straighten the door if I can't find any more rust.

If I decide to have a pro check it out, can anyone tell me who could do this in the Central Valley(I'm in Bakersfield, Ca.)?. Or a shop in LA that is 914 friendly?. I may also reinforce the chassis for an LS1 GM motor. So I realize that I have a lot to consider.

Thanks for your time.

Eddie.

Thanks Jason. I hope to be putting more time and money into my teener this summer. It should be fun. I plan on keepin this car for a long time(hopefully pass it on to a child of mine if I'm so honored), so I'd like to do the best job I can with it.

Late,

Eddie.
