What brand of spark plug wires??
I ordered a set of the Bosch wires from PP, but when it came time to install, it was obvious that these were designed for the 1.7/1.8 heads (more vertical plugs)... I called Tom, and he wasn't sure... Out of curiousity, what brand is everyone using??

Rats! Looks like Bosch has gone and changed the kits on us. 8^( I picked up a set a while back and found the same problem. Same thing with a no-name brand. (Hey, I was getting desperate!) I finally wound up getting some Beru (OEM) plug wires. They fit fine.
The build-your-own may be the way to go, though. See the earlier thread on Crane for details. --DD |

If you live near an Autozone check them out. They will have to order them. They are made by Carol Wire and cable adn have a lifetime warranty through AZ.

I really like the MSD wires. The 3104 set includes four wires and a coil wire, a crimping tool, plus serveral extra ends. Cost, about $30.
If you call MSD customer service, and ask really nicely, they might send you a set of their VW "insulators" which are the finest air tin/spark plug wires I have ever seen. See the Pelican tech article on MSD ignition regarding a few tips on how to install these wires and "insulators". |

I just ordered MSD wires from Sumitt Racing
the cost was 44+, pete says he payed alot less for his. I did call MSD and they sent the insulators to me for free. It seems you can't get them on the universal kit you have to ask MSD to send them. Seems strange but hey it's free. The wires are BLUE (cool color). It will make my tired old 2.0 look like it had plastic surgery. |

If you have an Autozone near you, this is what I did:
They do not carry wires for a 2.0, but they do have in stock wires for a super beetle. They are long enough and are red in color. They wire ends by the distributor have a 90 degree bend, but they work fine. Cost aprox $15 w/lifetime . IMHO ------------------ Smoke Daddy |

I have been a supporter of the aftermarket racing wires with soft boots for a long time and have had them on our race car since last summer. So far no problems with voltage leaks (run engine at night and look). I have had the Bosch phenolic insulators or whatever the hard insulators are made of, break after only a couple of months of use?
