Eric,
your right... this is a better place for the conversation.. I'm not trying to make work for you.. I just found that it was pretty easy and cheap ($5) to install the zerks while I was there.. and saved labour down the road.... Still... I've got to say, those arms look real nice. b

Big D,
I can't see the pictures of your GT... nosey, nosey, nosey ![]() I still want to see pics of Phils R-Gruppe as well... Secret's out now...! Damn Brant!! Actually, no problemo. Those sat for a couple of weeks, I wasn't sure there was a market. Now it seems people are finding out about them and wanting them so... could be. I'll make them for who ever wants them. I need to get on that core thing though. I should have core's back from John Kelly by the end of the month. Brant, Where'd you get your fittings? How far did they extend into the housing? I was thinking of carving a closed figure 8 in the bushing and positioning the fitting above the x but I don't think they'd stay put unless I dropped the fitting into a pocket.

Eric,
I've just use standard Zerks... (I think you can get a kit with a couple of dozen for $5 at harbour freight) I could get an old fashioned 35mm picture of my locations if you want and then snail mail it to you... (no camera).... so I cut my grease channels on the inside surface of the bushing material and then installed the zerk which stuck into the bushing about 1/4 inch... drilled a hole through the rest of the bushing material to allow the grease to push into the inside area... its the inside shaft that you want to spin, so the zerk sticking into the bushing just helps anchor the bushing so that it doesn't spin on the wrong surface anyways..... the other install trick (covered extensively over and over... yes I know I'm preaching to the choir eric) is to make sure the bushing material does not stick out the side of the swing arm farther than the metal shaft shoulder.... brant |

Good deal. I re-drill and build these for a local parts place, so i fallow ya.
If you click on the picture where its supposed to be ,its a little box with an X in it, it'll take you to the picture. My suspension should be comming back from the powder coater withen a couple of weeks. My buddy has an inside deal with a local coater and i told him i wanted them to be Gaurds Red. He came back and said they will be either hooker red or lipstick red, one of those.

Go figure, 10 minutes after i finish posting, my budy shows up with the parts. I figured if i ever rolled the car, it should look as nice as possible upside down. Enjoy.

That looks like hooker red to me...
![]() Nice ride... are you putting a 3.2 in there? Sharp. Cool lid. I built a GT lid as well. I'm currently down to the tub stage. All the suspension is done, tranny will be a 911/02 with sideshifter rods and nosecone. Engine will ne a 2.5 short stroker with s-cams and Webers. Signal oragne is my favorite. I found some original flares that were cut off a factory car. I just got them back from the media-blasters. Still a long way off... Here's my lid project Click Here

Hi Eric,
I did not see anything about cores in your post? I'll scare up some somehow though. I appreciate you taking my deposit. John www.ghiaspecialties.com |

Yupper... it was in the "price" line <<$395.00 plus your old control arms and hubs>>. (sorry, I pulled the ad when you gave me the deposit)
When you get these just throw yours in the box. That's why these are so reasonable, I'm basically giving away the control arms. There's another kit out there for $395.00 but it doesn't include the arms or bushings. It "does" however include rotors. The reason I decided to build them this way is; most people aren't comfortable re-bushing, installing bearings and pressing in hubs. I thought it would be best to have a "bolt-on" version of "like-new" arms rather than a "hammer out bearing, press in bearing, press out bushing, install bushing, press in hub, bolt on" version of old arms. ![]() That was the idea. With the fronts you can simply find a nice 68-73 911 front end (or 74-89 if you don't mind the under body bar limitations and geometry) and "bolt it on." With the rears I found it more difficult. You would have to get hubs drilled, new bearings. While you're in there you'll want to bush them etc. This offers a solution. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ![]()

Sounds good Eric, I'm not afraid of sheet metal, but the mechanical stuff is no fun for me. This is perfect for my needs. I will get you a set of trailing arms for the return trip in the box. Not sure if you've shipped a lot of heavy stuff so I'll remind you to wrap the studs in layers of cardboard or something. I've received a few boxes with the parts hanging out after UPS had their way with them. I've got a bunch of stuff for sale right now. Should happen soon. By the way, this is for my mid-engine Ghia...hope our deal still stands (insert sheepish emoticon) I'm looking forward to getting these. I've already got the rotors, so I'm getting there.
Thanks, John www.ghiaspecialties.com |
