Post Impending rebuild

Hi-
Looks like the winter project will be a (at least top-end) rebuild of my two liter. It has been many many years since I did last one, and I began to wonder what items (parts) I will need and could I go ahead a start collecting 'em. I expect one slightly burned exhaust valve to be replaced. Anybody got a handy list of basixc rebuild parts needed? Y'know- gasket sets, seals, PR tube seals, etc. I'll probably do my 1st and 2nd gear synchros too, so I gotta figure out what is needed for that too. I realize that a lot of things just aren't knowable untill the engine is apart, but anything to help me get my act together before I drop the motor would be really helpful....
Suggestions?

Nice job Sunset. BTDT situation, Yes?
Another is to check in with Jake's kits on Aircooled.net. He also has a video to walk you through and from others, is available to help if needed. I believe, Jason here at PP also will make himself available to guide you. Of course and last resort, tounge in cheek, the forums would be glad to help. Like, cram that two by four under the engine and get your 300# coworker to lean on the end.

I'll be glad to help you with either a stock or super-sized rebuild
