floating valves or rev limiter
I was wondering if anyone could clarify whether or not the 1.8 had a rev limiter other than the one in the rotor? I read some posts in the archives and it wasn't clear if the 1.8 had one built into the ecu. Anyone know for sure?
I was autoxing yesterday and at the top of second it seemed to be cutting out like a rev limiter, but knowing I don't have that rotor installed I thought it might be the valves floating. If it is the valves what is the fix? Are there heavy duty or double springs available or are new springs to replace fatigued ones the fix?

Jeff,
I'm not aware of any rev limiter in the ECU. It may be due to fuel pressure/flow - as lack of fuel at high RPM will act just like a rev limiter. My $0.02 Good lluck,

Valve float should not be a factor on a stock engine below 6000 RPM. And there is no reason to be revving the engine that far, it should fall on its face right at 5000.
I do not think the 1.8 had a rev-limiter built into the FI at all, so the rev-limiting distributor rotor would be the rev-limiter. --DD

So if it is a lack of fuel pressure on a L-jet car is there any way to increase this?

Yes, fix the problem in the fuel system. But that's only if the fuel pressure is out of spec... Have you checked it?

No haven't checked it yet. But if it is out of spec where is the adjustment on the L-jet sys? I don't recall it having an adjutable regulator like the D-jet

It doesn't. If the pressure is out of spec, that means there is a defect somewhere in the fuel system. So you need to find it and correct it.
