I was thinking of purchasing the "soft socket" for the new long steel lugs I just repainted for my fuchs wheels, but on Pelican's website it says that it shouldn't be used for steel bolts.
Is there any sort of in-between soft socket that I can use that won't damage my paint, or do I just touch them up all the time? If such a thing exists, where can I get it? Thanks, Steve

I have both a soft socket, and an aluminum socket for the alloy lugs on the 911. While both tend to protect the aluminum alloy lug nuts from "dents", the paint still gets scratched. I don't remember where I got the aluminum socket (or the soft socket for that matter) should you want to try one.

Thanks, I guess if the soft socket will also scratch the paint, I might as well just continue to use the normal one I've got. It will not dent steel any less than the soft one.

Steve,
If/when the paint starts to chip on your steel nuts, consider having them powder coated. I am told that is VERY durable. Lyle |
