I'm back! Finally. Wish it was with better news though.
Doubt that anyone here remembers me, I've been gone long enough. But the last year of college is finally over and I'm starting to get back some time to myself.
The plan was initially to settle down and play more with my 914. But I've decided to be young and stupid and move across the country to Seattle. I'm going back and forth on selling the 'teener. She's in pretty decent shape, and ran quite well the last time I had her out but I'll have no place to keep her or her spare parts once I move. Looking for advice guys. Do I sell her and know that she's not sitting (covered) in a barn in storage and waiting for me or do I store her and try to ship her 2,000+ miles once I have the space for her? I'm thinking that it would be much easier to sell the 'teener and buy another one once I have the time. They're fairly plentiful on the west coast, right? And I'll still have the 924S... The 924S is water-tight, I can park it outside. :P

if you don't have space for it and it's going to be sitting in OH, I would sell it so it can get love from someone else... if it's sitting, it will need some love, soon if not already. you will be around a lot of rust free cars in Seattle, and can replace it, probably with a better resto project.

Don't sell it! Keep it! I'm speaking from experience. You'll be sorry! Life will not be the same. When I moved to San Diego from Iowa five years ago, I sold EVERYTHING, my 914 with the rusty everything that ran, my 914 shell, and all my parts/tools. Five years went by, just me and my '87 Chevy Astro van and all this wonderful weather.
Finally, mostly on impulse, I took the plunge and bought another 914 ('74 2.0L) two months ago. It's my daily driver, and not a day goes by that I don't break out into a *****-eating grin while I'm driving this baby! I just received my tune-up kit and valve cover gaskets from PP (two-day delivery - great job, guys!). Now I will undoubtedly find out what tools I'm missing. I am thrilled that I'll be wrenching on this car soon. I forgot what fun was. Don't sell it.

![]() I took the plunge just a bit ago and listed the 'teener on Pelican's for-sale forum. I'll definitely be picking up another 914 in a couple years, but in the end I decided that I just couldn't take the thought of Lorelei (yeah, I named the car, sue me ![]() Aaron

my 914 will probably be for sale toward the end of the summer... so I can get a motor home to live in at college..... I wanna finish it up though first. New paint, NO rust, and newly rebuilt motor. New carpets, new weather stripping, polished pedrinis, bursch exhaust. It'll be one hell of a car....

![]() I'm really looking forward to the move and the one positive about having to sell the 914 is that I can start focusing on that 914/6 I've always wanted. I'm going all-out next time. ![]() Aaron

I drove 16 hours south... and still ended up with a rust bucket that took a year to fix. When they say california cars, they must be talkin bout south of san francisco.
