Porsche Crest Front brake help

I have an issue with the reinstallation of my front right caliper. When bolting back my newly overhauled caliper, it seems that the inside of the caliper housing is binding on the outer side of the rotor. I have put another caliper onto the car with the same results. Logic would dictate that the caliper attach points on the suspension are bent outward, but I'm not convinced.

Could the rotor not be seated far enough onto the stub axle? It seems that the bottom of the caliper is not binding, just the top. Could the top attach point be bent outward? Can it be rebent? or does it have to be shaved or replaced?

Anybody have experience with this?

is this on the '72? if so I may know what is going on... 1/2 way through '72, the rotors brakes and fron struts+ changed... you may have the 70-72 style rotor, with a 73+ caliper/strut

this JUST happened to me... it will seem like the rotor won't go on far enough... just as you described...

Thanks for your input. What did you do then? Get a correct rotor or get the matching caliper?

changing the caliper alone won't help you... get new rotors...
if you vin is > than 4722919032 you have to get 73+ rotors...

this is really good news though... the 73+ parts seem easier to find and cheaper and you probably already have the U-tabs to put a front sway bar on...

btw, did your left caliper have this issue?

if not either your rotors (or calipers) aren't matching, or you may actually HAVE something bent
