what year is this 914? (warning: pics of a 914 left to rot)

Its unlikely this is worth messing with. Its been parked in this spot since 1986. Im expecting a terminal situation, but Im gonna go look at it anyway. Looks straight and original. Its a 2.0 that still has the original fuel injection.

It's really sad. There are so few of these cars here to begin with, and here is a nice car that has been left to rot for the last 18yrs.

Any thoughts on what year it might be? '72-'74? Those are the older bumpers, right? Im a complete 914 newbie, but Ive done some extensive rust repair on an old 911 before.

TIA

I'm gonna guess '74. I think I see holes in the front bumper where the rubber guards attach. That would make it a '73 or '74. I don't think those wheels came until '74 but not certain. Of course all could have been changed in the last 30 years.

Look at the VIN

The third digit of the VIN on the windshield post will tell you the year.

474xxxx…is a 1974
475xxxx…is a 1975

Heh, I just about s--t when I first looked at the pic. The side stripe looked greenish for a moment, so I thought we'd at last spotted the elusive Grasshopper LE (with different wheels).

Now that would be a really evil nasty joke to play on Jeff... Photochop a green side-stripe onto a rotted-out white hulk... Ouch!!

The antenna and it's placement is unique. Just think what else you'll find.

does look kindda green doesn't it. I would have said let it sit there and rot....but get the VIN, just to make sure. I'm guessing 1974 as well.

It also doesn't have the LE spoiler.

Whats up with that antenna location?

Hate to say it, but I'm rather more interested in that Mustang sitting next to it. I've always had a soft spot for the early notchback mustangs.

They had no choice but to put the antenna there because of the leaves plugging up the hole in the normal spot. Probably a good donor car, esp if it is a 2.0 that isn't set up by now.

Shuie, If you decide not to get it please contact me. I live over in Houston, but grew up in BR and get over there every other week. I also have a dedicated 914 trailer with winch. Call it a 914 rescue mission. Let's not let it rot. David Lee
