Kumho Ecsta 712

Will these fit my 76? 195-50-15 on Pedrini#01 rims. No body mods. Looking for a good set of street/performance/cost matters tires.

I had the same tire on the front of my 73, I had 205/50's on the back, this was on 2.0 Fuch's. No fitment problems. Loved the tire too.

You are going to lower your gear ratios and have a fast speedo. If that's not OK go with 195/65's. I have used them on two 914's with stock wheels. They will fit fine. I'm sure the 195/50's will as well.
Not sure what "01" Pedrinis means. If they are the late type you will be fine. Early will not fit '73 or later car without machine work.

Yes, "01" Pedrinis are the late version that fits on late-72+ front hubs.

195-50-15 should fit, though they might rub a little on the inside front fender, just aft of the shock tower, when the steering is at full lock.

Gearing will be short, the ride will be on the stiff side of comfortable. Feedback from the contact patches will be immediate and very noticeable. For a long-distance cruiser 914, I would suggest going with the 195-65-15 tires instead. For a canyon-carver that you won't drive for more than a few hours at a time, the 195-50s are lots of fun.

I use Ecsta 712's on my M3. Amazingly cheap, perform very well, and if you stay off the track with them, fairly quiet throughout their service life. Less than half the price of Pilot's with about 85% of the performance. Very well-constructed tire, too, with similar internals to the Pilot's, and a nice rim protection strip, as well as peripheral wear markers of 6 different depths so that you can judge wear uniformity.

No 712's in size 195/65, what do you guys suggest. Yoko ES100, Kumho KH11 others. Like to stay in $70 and below range. I need 5 tires.

I would go with KH11 if you don't need all season tire. $45 at Tire Rack plus shipping +mount/balance. I have had very good results at America's Tire Co. by calling and asking if they will match Tire Rack price including Tire Rack shipping plus about $10-15 per tire for mount and balance. Bought a set of Kuhmo V Racers and a set of Pirellis that way. In some cases I think they order from Tire Rack. They probably get a better price than the direct consumer would.
