What color is this car?

I think this is the L 13 M, but if the owner is a member, please give me the color code.

That's Rich Johnson's car, I think it's a repaint (orriginally a red?) but the new color is Chrome Yellow (might be a PPG color). Maybe someone else is more in the know of the color code.

That's Rich Johnson's car. Rich has written that the color is Chrome Yellow, which I think is a 911 color.

I can find Speed Yellow and Summer Yellow, but no Chrome Yellow. Any idea on the year that Porsch used this?

Thanks,
Randy

Chrome yellow, L13M, 1974.

BTW, this yellow is very very close to the chrome yellow used on late model Ford Mustangs. This may be useful if there are problems getting the old paint code mixed in newer polyurethane BC/CC such as DuPont Chromabase.

L 13 M is Saturn Yellow in VW land. The chrome yellow is L 20 A and is a totally different color. Interesting.

ANYWAY, it's a really awesome looking example of a 914 done right.

That's the way they should all look, and then there wouldn't be any VW-Porsche issue.

Forgot to put the big black beautiful bumpers back on too! Terrible reassembly job! Love the look of that car! I think it's a V-8 conversion, yes, no?

mustanggtboy: I aggree, that car has a lot of trick bits on it, shortened trailing arms for 7" rims on stock fenders, 3.0 carbed motor making ~230HP (not sure if that's at the wheels or not), oil cooler in the back w/ a fan, full guages in the stock 3-pod dash (gas, oil temp, oil pressure, tach, speedo), 911 frontend/brakes, hydrolic clutch cable, etc etc. And ontop of that the guy is really nice and sells parts...I got my 5-bolt setup and all the parts that go with it through him.

Now that is something I haven't heard, " shortened trailing arms"

What is that, are they talking bringing them inboard by changing the mounting points or making them thinner so the rim clears the arm?

So if you get a 5 bolt rear rotor, you can run only a 6" rim without modications?

Has anybody done a remote controlled oil cooler that moves up into the air flow, like the new porsches?

I've got this idea for a rotating air scoop for the oil cooler, the scoop would pop up like a hidden headlite...

The latter.

You can fit 7" rims of the correct offset or backspacing. It's tight, though, and you can't run tires wider than 205. In many cases, you can only run 195s, which is pretty narrow for a 7" rim!! Most people will just "roll" or pull out the fenders to fit the 205s and 7" rims; Rich did not want to alter the fender contours on his car so he narrowed the trailing arms instead.

I haven't heard of this being done. Sounds interesting! Also very complex. I wonder where you'd put the cooler and the scoops?? Hmmm....
