Bad lock ignition cylinder

Well, my ignition cylinder is busted at the ignition switch. I've ordered a new one, but, I seem to be having trouble getting the old one out. does anyone know how to do this?

I'm going by memory here. I think it makes it easier (or is necessary) to drop the lower dash pad. Pull the steering wheel off, then I think there are 4 screws holding the turn signal mechanism. Pull it out by disconnecting the wire harness under the column. Then there's a screw inside to retain the ignition switch then you can pull the whole assembly out once you disconnect the electrical connectors. Maybe there's a tech article on this but I didn't look.

Unfortunately, the article on our site is for the 72-74 cars only. 70-71 ones have a somewhat different setup, and the 75-76 ones have a third kind of setup. I recall EJM posting something about removing the whole mechanism, then drilling a hole in a specific location to release the tumbler??? A search may turn that info up....

I already have the sterring column off. I just need to get the old cylinder out to put the new one in.

All I can tell you is mine has a tiny screw in the side that allows the switch to come out. I could also insert the key and turn to remove the tumbler. Apparently Dave is saying that changed in 75 and something needs to be drilled out.
