Question Headlight Won't Pop UP

I have a 74 914, 2 liter. The left front headlight won't come up when I turn on the lights. The lights both illuminate, but only the right pops up. A strange occurance, when I turn the black knob on the back of the left headlight motor (armature?) the other headlight dances up and down. Strange! Both lights have worked flawlessly in the past. Any thoughts would be helpful. Eddy

Eddy, you might have better luck if you post your question on the 914 forum.

Swap the relays from the left headlight to the right. Does the problem follow the relay?

Very odd about the other light reacting to your manually raising the one light. Has anything changed in the wiring of the car since they both worked well? Been within 50 feet of a body shop, for instance?

Check all your grounds. They can cause very odd problems...

Smile Hmmmmmmm?

Well.....

I cleaned the ground at the light and applied some deox to prevent corrosion. I noticed that a diode was not soldered very well, so I resoldered the diode and now the headlights work just fine. Not sure which was the problem but the end results are what count. Thanks for the tips. Eddy
