xr 3000 for dummies

Just installed xr 3000 kit w/ shutter and ps91 coil in my 74 1.8, bought the kit used no instr. followed crane's online stuff...
no fire anywhere. any help would save this beautiful car from owner inflicted dents?

Those are the instructions I followed, nothing doing. Does these car have an oe module to disconnect? Ballast resistor?

There is no OE ignition module; the 914 had a points-and-condensor ignition system. There was a ballast resistor, but it was internal to the coil.

Verify that you have +12V and ground where the XR3000 expects to find them. Supply the module with +12V and ground, and move the optical pickup so that it goes past the gap(s) in the trigger wheel. If that doesn't trigger a spark from the coil (if you kept your good old stock coil, use it) then the XR3000 is likely dead.
