Question about Fuel Injector Damage

Ok, i have another non-914 question but the BMW board has almost no activity - you guys seem to know everything.

I was changing the rubber seals on my 1988 BMW 528 and the fuel injectors have a plastic tip (I believe it is called a chimney) that is on the end that inserts into the manifold. The plastic tip is to help the injector stay cool - somehow.

The plastic tips on 2 of the injectors was broken off. I'm wondering if this is a big problem. I will probably replace all of the injectors at some point but the car seems to run fine.

Any advice would be great............................Vern

See my post about fixing our 914 as the missing plastic tip will most definately cause problems.
