Anybody ever sell & ship a windshield

I'm getting ready to list a perfect 914 windshield on E-Bay.

Has anyone ever shipped a windshield? And, if so, I could use any tips you got on the proper shipping of big piece of glass. It'd be nice if I could do this wihtout breaking anything.

I don't even know of any glass places that ship. Try to sell it locally, first.

I think Greyhound will ship it to destinations within the US. Pack it well.

I shipped a 964 windshield via Greyhound. Built a nice crate and packed it well.

Although I admire Jim for successfully shipping a large piece of glass, I have not had success with it myself. Even rear windows seem to get broken.

There are so many people that are looking for a really nice windshield that I would bet you could sell it locally with no problem.

What I plan on doing is attempting to get a nice packing box. If it turns out ok, then I will list it on E-Bay. If it seems too fragile, I will stick the windshield in the attic and keep it for a spare. Who knows, maybe 50yrs from now, someone will find it and it will be their miracle.

You can use a packaging box, just reinforce it with wood strips.

You can use a crate for shipping large mirrors. I think UPS has them. I'm getting a new top shipped like that. Or maybe wait until it gets here and see if it survived.
