DPD AC Condensor Fan Motor Upgrade
We are going to install a DPD AC system in our 1972 914 and try a 134a conversion (It had a DPD system at one time). The condensor fan motor runs but of course is 30+ years old and probably draws a lot of current. Has anyone updated to a more efficent fan motor and perhaps also even updated the fan blade? I understand the condensor size is marginal with 134a so any increase in efficiency certainly must help.
The same is also true of the evaporator motor. Any updates there? Any info would be appreciated as well as any pictures. Thanks, jjs3rd914 |

YEP... Ill take a photo of the fan tonight or tomorrow. You should get lower vent temps with a better fan.
In the DPD system the condenser is the biggest performance down fall ![]() The evap is fine don't wast the time on trying to find a new fan it will not help much. Replace the TXV if you do open the system. It's cheap and easy to to. Cheers Kerry
