Wiring help, please
I just got a newer tach (I think it's a 71 or 72). It has a 5 (or 6) prong outlet on the back where my old one had 3. Any help on on the wiring (eg, which prong is for what) would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the Tach is form a 914? I have an early and late model and they both have only 3 connectors. It should be from right to left looking from the back, connector # 1 black/purple or black/red and goes to coil thru the relay box in the engine compartment. The center connector #15 red/white is power which connects to multi guage and finally to fuse #9. The last connector #31 brown is a ground wire. Hope this helps

To clarify, this is a tach from a 911 for my six conversion. Here's a pic of the back.

I think the best thing to do is go to the 911 BBS. They probably can tell you a lot more about your Tach, good luck.
