Garage
I have to second that, the Club board down really sux. Even with all the break downs, 3 or 4 on one trip, I still enjoyed seeing everyone and their cars. The trans falling out of the car was funny but not fun, thanks for the help fixing that one to get it home, on the way home, the battery dies which shut off the car on the freeway. Alternator is not charging, and then we get a new battery and when we
got to the 22 interchange the main power wires short out on the muffler and the car almost burns up and of course, shuts down again on the freeway. The wire got so hot it melted the connection to the battery negative terminal. What a crap wiring job the PO did. The car needs a lot of little details worked out and we will get on them next week. I still had a good day though, I got to get away from the house, I got to see some friends and some nice cars, and I got to work on a car. I think since we are all still alive, it was a good fun day. When do we do it again???

Well, after that performance, Duffster may not be the ideal choice to be da fox. Seeing that beautiful blue car do a full loop right in front of Aaron in my rearview was quite a strain on my ol' ticker. Its a different matter when its your own car teaching you about lift-throttle oversteer! I gots a racing stripe in my shorts and I was ahead of it all.

It was fun to watch that little white civic belch a great cloud of white smoke when he was trying to get me off his Mannymoeandjack combination licence plate frame/ground effects device. Great to see you all and meet those of you that I hadn't run across before. Lets do it again and let someone else who doesn't drive like a moron lead....

Yea,
once i got the tranny off the ground and a new battery all we had to do was put out the electrical fire and we were back on the road. Three break downs in one run is a new record. I think my 2.6L used some type of voodoo on the V8.

Looks like i'm going over the wiring of the whole car. Not exactly my idea of fun

I'm just glad all the 914 guys were there to help.

I'm still cracking up over the borrowed fork lift!

Figured I'd find you guys over here. Need my 914 fix. Glad you had fun and no real damage. Willow was kind of a bust this weekend. Didn't go Saturday (Yom Kippur) and only about 30 cars there on Sunday. Lot's of track time, but no one to play with. I need more skill or HP to stay up with the 7's!

Contest of the day was RX8 vs Cobra replica. Fun to watch.

Well, for the benefit of those who might some day want to attend one of these 914 fun runs, here are some things I learned yesterday:

1. Sometimes these fun runs are more 'fun' than 'run'.
2. Before taking your V8 conversion out for the first time, check the tranny mounts.
3. If you don't have time to check the tranny mounts, at least make sure that your dual muffler setup is securely fastened to the tranny so that when it drops while in motion, the tranny is spared.
4. Driving with a dropped tranny with the aforementioned setup is a good way to remove that unwanted metal on the bottom of your mufflers plus it makes a real cool dual roostertail of sparks.
5. Exiting a corner ass-end first is not the preferred technique, but if exiting a corner ass-end first, it is preferable to stay on the paved bits.
6. Don’t lift-throttle in the middle of a fast turn. See ‘5’
7. Carry a clean pair of underwear in the glove compartment. See ‘6’
8. If one insists on ignoring lessons 5 and 6, at least make sure there is at least one car behind you with occupants ready to help extract you from the dirt.
9. If you think you are pretty fast in your Civic, don't get in front of Duffster.
10. Be the guy following Duffster so you can hear the beautiful sound of that 2.7RS.
11. Damn that 2.7RS sounds sweet.
