If I remember correctly, the Rivs are 5.5" rims. You should be able to put 195/50's on no problem. I'm running 205/50's on my Fuchs.

I got 205s on my Rivieras. I think I swapped them off my old 914s Fuchs/Perdinni? alloys. I tried to swap the wheels but found out that the alloys on my '71 didn't fit the front hubs on my '75 so I just swapped the tires.
Anyway, Rivieras w/205 BF Goodrich tires. My '75 has #180 rear springs and 22mm torsion bars and is about 1.5 lower than stock. I had to roll the rear fender lip with a baseball bat because of rubbing. If I did was buying new tires , I'd probably go with 195s. But my 205s were free. |

you're taking your chances with the rivs, and it really depends on your luck with YOUR specific car.. there are apparently several versions of the riv.. i've seen some people with 195's on it, but they rolled the fender, or at least the inner lip of the fender. i've never seen anyone with 205's running with the riviera rims, but i can imagine how it *can* be done : HUGE camber. *I* had a set of riv's before, and i could not get ANYTHING over stock in there, the 165's were so close that i couldn't even slip my pinky in there..
for my 0.02, i'd get some real factory wheels, they fit a lot better.. Jeff |
