Lot of bucks for a couple hundred horse if you add it all up. Personally, I'd rather have one of these .

I just sold the transmission that I bought together with a low mileage VR6 motor and so my net cost for the motor is $2100 Cdn. Motor has 172hp stock plus another 10 or so hp with just a chip ... I'm pretty pleased about it.

Jake, if you ever read this,(and i have a hunch that you don't like me b/c we butt heads just about everytime we cross paths), but let me say, thats a VERY nicely laid out website!

Your going to do VERY well with customers. Its bright, simple, and has great discriptions with easy section tabs.

A+++ man!

**** alfred, does ANYONE want to hear that? We all know you think your VR6 is better than a T4. NOBODY CARES. This thread is not a comparison.

Sean, if I had any more power than what I have now I'd soil my pants! I can't imagine a 675 HP monster bolted in there. So you blew a head gasket? Bummer. Think that had anything to do with your cooling problems you had awhile back?

Some people want a V8, some want a flat-six and some want a $7000 flat-four. $7000 is too rich for my blood so I'm pleased with the VR6 I found. Plus, with VAG-com software, I can hook my laptop up to the VR6 and log data as I drive to troubleshoot any problems with the motor.

No... It's not too rich for Alfred's blood.. He can't comprehend it so he chose the easy way out!

Bigd, Thanks for the compliments! It is far from being 100% right now, but should be within 2 weeks.

Since my business has taken a slightly different twist and I now sell some parts similar to Pelican I think its only polite if I make this my last trip to this board. Wayne and the guys at Pelican are great guys and I don't mean any malice to them and their customer base.

I'll still stop by and lurk,just to make sure I'm not getting slammed here! If you want me you can swing by my forum or 914 Club and find me.

Its been fun here guys, but its just not right for me to continue posting here ..... If someone could kill this post before any more of Pelican's customer base sees it I would appreciate it.

I believe Pelican ,Raby's (as well as John Henry aircooled.net) are more complimentary than competitive. At least in my experience it's the little projects, ( shifters, electronics, brakes, shocks ect. ) that account for most of my hobby spending. Looks like Jake is selling what he knows best ..extreme components for extreme 4 s. For maintenance rebuilds (i.e. basic stock ) the landscape remains about the same , with several pretty much equal sourcing choices. Which is good... the more choices we have as consumers the better service we will recieve.
Having said that , I will add my compliments and congratulations to Mr Raby for continuing to grow his business,

I think I agree with schosh. We have parts for the whole 914, but our selection of engine parts in particular is "stock or nearly stock". John and Jake seem to mostly have engine-related parts, and are more focused on non-stock engines. There may be some overlap, but not a whole lot IMHO.

I do not see a reason to lock the post at this point.

Dave, glad to see your view on this. Perhaps you could speak with Wayne and see what he says and let me know what the rules are, or how it should be dealt with.

Its all up to you guys.
