Lightbulb Advise for trans mount replacement??

This weekend I'm hoping to install the replacment mounts I got from Pelican. I got the 911 ones. Although they look to be really similar, I was wondering if any shims or wahers anywhere might be needed. Also wondered if I should disconnect the shift linkage (I don't think so) and the heat exchanger support bracket (I do think so). Anybody got tips, observations, or words of encouragement? I was spraying the bolts with WD-XX and noted that it was in Baa-aa-d (d!) shape- really shifted so that the top portion is cockeyed towared the back. I dunno if the attaching bolts have ever been off- up on the body. I don't think so.....

I'm no expert, but just did the job a couple days ago. 911 mounts fit fine, no shims needed. Use WD-40 or Liquid wrench on the threads. Support the transmission with a jack. Loosen, but don't remove the mount nuts, bolts until both sides are loosened. torquing down on one side, with the other side hardware already removed caused the entire transmission to move in an uncomfortable way. Remove the muffler bracket mounting hardware. With the muffler bracket dissconnected and the mount hardware out, the transmission lowers easily with the jack support and the mounts are easily exchanged. The hardest part of the job was getting the original hardware removed.

I did mine recently and the 911 type fit fine.

It may be best to spray with wd40 and let sit overnight & spray a few times.

I put a floor jack under the transmission (with a block of wood under the trans). This worked fine. After I got the old bolts out, I went to the hardware store and got new bolts & nuts (automotive grade). And, the new nuts I got with nutserts (the plastic piece that acts as a lock washer.

I removed my exhaust but that was because I was installing a new muffler & I don't remember if I had to do this for the trans mounts - but it seems like this would give you more room.

Well your down there, be sure to inspect the transmission ground strap & replace if it's worn out.
