Check the archives for more info on this topic. Briefly, the windshield is set in black mastic and the edge is covered with aluminum molding that is held in by several plastic clips (that are prone to breakage). In my opinion, replacement is a job for a auto glass professional. It can be done for less than $150 in most places.

Right, take it to a pro, I paid 150 to windshield and replacemnt. It's messy and a PITA. I used to work in a body shop and we replaced WS there, I hated every aspect of it. Let someone else get the grief, if the shop is good they have to garuante that it wont leak.
I had a little surface rust on the mounting surface the guy cleaned it up and put down some special primer that seals the metal. Nice job, find a good place and its worth the 150 or so.

My deductable is 50 bucks, I took it to
a shop in my home town that said they
could handle a 914 replacement. They could
and now I can see. They said they are very careful with the chrome trim and that the key to a leak proof job is getting all the old
sealer crap out of the window channel.
I live in Washington state so I can attest to
the fact it does not leak.
Good Luck
