Jack recomendations?
I'm kinda curious what most of you guys use for your "travelling" jack.
I myself used a scissor jack for a while but have since switched to a light duty hydraulic floor jack . Not the nice aluminium kind, but just a cheap (25$) model from the corner FLAPS. It' comes in a plastic case and doesn't take too much space in the front trunk. I use it with one of those jack plates that Pelican sells. How about the rest of ya'? Bill

I just carry the stock jack and hope I never have to actually use it.
I like the idea of the sizzor jack if it fits inside the front wheel. I don't really like Porsche's design of having the rear carpet just cover that jack - it would be nice if the carpet fit nicer (i.e., having the jack gone). Vern |

I use the lightweight aluminum floor jack. $80 from harbor freight... But then again, it's not for "just in case" use. I use it regularly on the weekends changing tires at autoxes and the like...

Okay, but not super great.
I've had mine for I guess two years now. It needed bleeding once, and the check valve I think just failed. But this jack has seen regular use. But for the price, and the fact that it was a floor jack that didn't give me hernia lifting in and out of the back of the car, it was still well worth it. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. In this case, it's worth it... -Josh2 |
