V8 Help!
Scott? Sean? Ian? I'm transplanting my conversion parts from the 238 to the 350. The 350 has a Milodon cam drive. When installing the harmonic balancer/belt pulley I found the new engine has 1/4" less shaft length which miss-aligns my alternator and w/p belt alignment 1/4". I know there is a crank gear but I don't think Milodon would require you to install a shorter h/b. I "could" space out the alternator and w/p but may cause interference to the bulkhead. Will the h/b be okay mounted 1/4" off the shaft?

Felix, I am not 100% sure on this, my 283 didnt have a hole drilled and tapped in the end of the crank to use a bolt to hold it on. The later 350's did. Mine is a press fit.

Kennedy Engineering, Renegade and Desert Hybrids sell HB spacers of different lengths. I think Desert Hybrid spacers are cheaper and nice pcs

Sean,
I found out the crank drive "is" the spacer, LOL. I plan to machine down the h/b stub 1/4" to keep everything aligned and not reduce my limited engine to bulkhead clearance. See you at WCC, w/o my car... ![]()

Well this isn't the only obstacle. The bigger one is the 8" vs 9" mistake that KEP and I made. I actually had it figured out months ago but they told me the part numbers I provided are 9". I guess I "wanted" to believe them and should have removed mine first. Anyway, the short of it is I will have my Jaide flywheel modified to fit their 8" double disc and pp. This will take days I don't have prior to WCC. I also found some water fittings that are corroded that I will need to replace. Oh well, could've should've started earlier but life doesn't always cooperate...
![]() At least I've finally got my garage cleared, somewhat organized, engine replacement started, and have momentum. This is good gearing up for my other conversion project...
