Gear swappin'

Hello all-

My 914 V8 has a tail shifter in it that is in good shape. I just got a side shifter trans but the syncros are a bit weak on 2nd gear. Can I swap the gears and syncros from one to the other easily? Next question. I would like to get at least a taller 5th gear. Is it a major thing to swap that out as well? I have opened trannys before but not Porsche ones.

Its pretty easy to swap gears in the 901's. Go for it. The "H" gear is the hot ticket for the V8 guys. Good luck finding one.
