914 side mirrors hang poorly

Is there a "wedge shaped" 914 side mirror rubber base?? if used the side mirrors would then sit squarely at 90 degrees off door top, I have the standard flat (no wedge)rubber base and it does not get the job done. Any ideas on where to find a wedge shaped rubber base..or how to remedy this drooping mirror situation ??

Picture enclosed is poor quality but you'll get the idea just the same. Thanks for your ideas or suggestions!

This is just a thought:

Have you tried unscrewing the mirror and turning the base around? I looked at my car and although the mirror base does sit at a slight angle, the mirror stalk stands straight and my mirror is level with the ground. The base of the mirror can be turned around and maybe that's your problem.

Thanks but yes I have taken them apart and turned the vertical piece in-wards ...it is still a bit off, the mounting on a curve is the problem. I small rubber wedge, the same size as the standard rubber base piece will do the trick, I may end up making this piece myself..thanks for your reply Vern!

Dang that does look darn parallel to the ground...I'll do more experimenting with mine and see what I can come up with, Thanks for including the image of your mirror Vern.

Sorry about that, I thought you were thinking your's alone were screwy.

I actually like the droop, but I have had 23 years to like it..

There was a time when I though huge 911 mirrors looked better, and I had purple hair down to my buttock, and Ronald Reagan was the Pres..

I would think that you coud get a piece of rubber or thick gasket material, then cut it square to fit your mirror. After that, couldn't you grind it down on a bench grinder into a wedge shape.

My mirror is fairly level to the ground but it does have a very slight tilt.

interestingly enough, last week I did just what you have explained, I cut some rubber I had laying around to fit the rubber base, drilled two holes, and used my bench grinder to shape it as a wedge. Did this for both sides. the mirrors now sit exactly as I wanted them. I took a picture and will post that later on when I have my camera close at hand.
