Thumbs up Repaint '74 914, color change?

I just purchased a '74 914, 2.0 that needs minor restoration and paint. Color is original "Olympic Blue" which is a baby blue to most of us. Not a masculine color. Should I repaint a color I like, or would that reduce the value of car significantly? (Not interested in concours shows.) Appreciate your opinions!

Paint the car what ever color you'd be happy with. I'm having my
72 faded Bahia Red car repainted in about a month to Jaguar
Racing Green. It's going to be a bare metal repaint so now is the time to do it.

I agree with Gary, paint it what you want. What will reduce the car's value is not the color, it's the lack of quality put into the paint job and if the color change is done poorly. If you paint a blue car red for example, you should not see blue in the door jambs, trunks, etc. Of course it's a lot more work to make it not look like a repaint.

Just think--if the car is "significantly devalued" by 10% if you repaint, that's only $600. Is it worth $600 (or even $1000) to you to drive a car whose color you like?

Of course, I like my Olyblau car--but I'm a weirdo.
