guage senders...
I installed an engine from a car with the in-dash temp guage into my 72 that doesn't have the in-dash guage. I have a console with the 2" guages i plan to install. Do I need to change the sender too, or are they the same?

The stock gauge doesn't have numbers on it, so it doesn't really matter if the senders are a bit different or not. You will simply have to get an idea of what the "normal" range is for your motor/sender/gauge combination, and then you worry if things get outside of that range.
Or you calibrate the gauge and sender with boiling water outside of the car--212F is a very good point to know on your oil temp gauge. (240F is another one, but you'll need to use something other than water to find that.) --DD

That's a good idea, i've heard some gauges are not so accurate anyway. I'll do that when I change the oil next.....
