Can't release clutch

Hoping it is only the clutch cable, however cable is not broken. Anyone had it stretch so far that will not disengage? HOw is the shift knob removed? IT certainly does not want to screw off. Hammer? I have had the clutch release fork bend on my 911, but this seems like such a mild clutch.
Appreciate any help.

sounds like your clutch tube is broken off....but could be something as simple as a stretched clutch cable....i put a couple of nuts behind the adjusting nut as a spacer.

The stock shift knob slides up and off the gear shift lever. It takes some doing--Haynes recommends putting it in a vise and using a mallet, but I find that it will come off with some twisting and pulling.

Or the pivot ball, that rides in that bushing snaps off.

Thanks for the replies. It was a really simple thing. There is a pin that holds the clutch pedal on the pedal cluster and it had somehow worked its way out. I figure R & R with a little JB weld on the outside should solve the problem. Having a console makes the job a little annoying tho, since it gets in the way of removing the wooden cover to the pedal assembly and must be removed. I was really hoping it was not the fork that disengages the throwout bearing and that all looks good.

you should replace that roll pin.....

it has the bad rep for breaking at the most inconvient times.....like in traffic, at a stoplight, picking up your girlfriend/wife for a date.

I was going to put in a hardened allen bolt. Anyone see a problem with that?
I really do not want to have this to happen again cause I have to remove the console to repair. Driving without a clutch is not that big a deal except if you have to stop on a hill facing up hill.

Knock the rear window out, and pull the cable with pliers.

Just trying to help.

Bolts are only good in tension you will only get maybe 1/20-1/10 the strength in shear, depending on the grade. The pins in there are engineered and spec'd for that purpose.... no matter how hard they are to get in or out.

Mine broke about 50 miles from home after midnight.....after that drive i figured i was so good at speed shifting whats the point in fixing it....then i tried to reverse.
