dual Weber 34 ICT or Stock fuel injection

I have recently recieved a pair used of Weber 34 ICT carbs, lncage and intakes and am trying to decide to sell it or replace the stock fuel injection with it. Can someone maybe give me a little information about these carbs and how this setup works on a 72 1.7 liter. I wonder if they free up any horse power. I have a relitivly low budjet but want to know what the best thing to do would be. My car has a 1975, 76 air box from when I bought it and I wonder if this has any smoge restrictions on my moter and why my car would have this and the 75,76 exhaust wih catalic converter?.
So help would be apreciated thanks
Jake

Sell them. Your 2.0L will not see ANY performnce increase whatsoever over your (current) stock EFI. Don't even THINK about trying them; they were barely big enough for a 1.7L; imagine how they'll choke YOUR engine.

Nope, they were just a poor band-aid solution that a EFI-challenged mechanic would suggest to a unknowledgeable owner.

If they don't perform smog equipment inspections in your state, the BEST solution would be to backdate your exhaust system to the '73-'74 system, or install a 914-specific header & muffler.

The earlier HE's (heat exchangers) allow for better muffler options, are less restrictive than the cat. system, and actually allow your engine to run a few degrees cooler. Same with a header system, but you'll lose cabin heating capability. That, along with a K&N filter in the original filter assembly, would provide the best low-buck upgrade for your year 914.

Sorry, but I don't have a CLUE as to why your '72 1.7L has a cat. system, except to say that it might've been swapped out to backdate someone ELSES 1.7L.

It's possible that someone installed a whole 75+ engine in the car.

A 2.0 intake would have a throttle body sitting straight up on top of the intake manifold. A 1.8 would have the air cleaner sitting waaaaay over on the left side of the engine bay, and there would be a box with a quarter-circle bump-out attached to the side of the air cleaner.

A real 2.0 motor would also have spark plug holes in the vertical side parts of the engine tin, rather than on the top horizontal parts. And the intake runner pipes would be held onto the heads with three studs--one on each end, one down in the middle--instead of four.

i have nothing to compare my performance to, except the lame-o weber 32/36 progressive that fed it before i switch to dual weber 34 ICTs. it gave me more low end pull, though the high end was about the same. it sounded different; no, i am not crazy. it 'growls' now. 1.7 liters of fury. i figure i am not going to race it, and the dual 34s made it a whole bunch more driveable.

but i ain't no expert, either. but i like 'em.

List them on TheSamba as the bus guys love the 34's for their 1.7's.
