Guess the part contest! Huge Prizes!

Ok well, its been a bit slow around here...

Its time to play guess the part!

First to correctly guess gets the set of parts in 18-8 stainless steel!

Ooooohhhhhh.....Ahhhhhhhh....

M4 Size Length 8mm with a 7mm Pitch.

Most cars I have seen have 4 in the set. One had just 2 with the other 2 slightly longer.

Where do they go?

Shows one OEM and the stainless one.

Rich Hilgersom 12-15-2005 09:29 AM

...and DD cant play because he is the sum of all knowledge 914...

Conrad W Peden 12-15-2005 09:42 AM

screw that holds on rear rotor

Rich Hilgersom 12-15-2005 09:47 AM

Good guess! but those are longer...

Dave at Pelican Parts 12-15-2005 09:49 AM

I've got a guess. Mixing up the longer and shorter ones leads to really weird problems, right? (Guess how I know that...)

blitzer 12-15-2005 01:50 PM

Inside door handle screw?

Rich Hilgersom 12-15-2005 02:07 PM

Another solid guess.
The door handle is 900 147 004 02 an m5 screw

gettin warmer...

Dave at Pelican Parts 12-15-2005 02:16 PM

Rats, that was my guess! Hmm... M4? The ones of those that are coming to mind are slot-head screws, not phillips-head. Hrrr....

Let's see, phillips-head, M4, for a countersunk hole.... Hmmmmmmm....

--DD

Clay Perrine 12-15-2005 02:30 PM

It's the screw that holds the trim around the inside door handle.

If its too long, it jams the handle.

bd1308 12-15-2005 03:39 PM

yeah but he said there are 4 in a 914....

goose2 12-15-2005 04:09 PM

window track screws?

Rich Hilgersom 12-15-2005 04:16 PM

VERY close goose2

gonna have to be a bit more specific.

I thought the mirror screws were larger than that. And there are more than 4 on a 914; there are two holding the mirror on (and may be two more on some cars), plus two more (I think) holding each of the door latches or strikers on. (Forget which at the moment.)

Rich Hilgersom 12-16-2005 08:12 AM

The side mirror screws are much larger panheads.
914 531 523 10 Raised Head M6 x 12

Hint: You can only see two of them without a teardown.
They are on the door.

Acox914 12-16-2005 08:39 AM

the ones on the bottom of the door, that adjust the top of the window in or out....

you know...

Rich Hilgersom 12-16-2005 09:11 AM

Sorry...those are bolts and nuts

Rich Hilgersom 12-16-2005 09:18 AM

We have a winner!

no need to send any to me...I can get them locally for about what postage would cost, but thanks for the game!

computers4kids 12-17-2005 08:54 PM

They hold the strike plate on to the door post. Two screws per strike plate.
