Guess the part contest! Huge Prizes!
Ok well, its been a bit slow around here...
Its time to play guess the part! First to correctly guess gets the set of parts in 18-8 stainless steel! Ooooohhhhhh.....Ahhhhhhhh.... M4 Size Length 8mm with a 7mm Pitch. Most cars I have seen have 4 in the set. One had just 2 with the other 2 slightly longer. Where do they go? Shows one OEM and the stainless one. ![]() |

I've got a guess. Mixing up the longer and shorter ones leads to really weird problems, right? (Guess how I know that...)

Rats, that was my guess! Hmm... M4? The ones of those that are coming to mind are slot-head screws, not phillips-head. Hrrr....
Let's see, phillips-head, M4, for a countersunk hole.... Hmmmmmmm.... --DD

It's the screw that holds the trim around the inside door handle.
If its too long, it jams the handle.

I thought the mirror screws were larger than that. And there are more than 4 on a 914; there are two holding the mirror on (and may be two more on some cars), plus two more (I think) holding each of the door latches or strikers on. (Forget which at the moment.)

The side mirror screws are much larger panheads.
914 531 523 10 Raised Head M6 x 12 Hint: You can only see two of them without a teardown. They are on the door. |
